Supporting literacy and a love of learning throughout Pioneer Library System communities.
Established in 2010, Pioneer Library System Foundation serve as the philanthropic fundraising entity for the greater Pioneer Library System – encompassing Oklahoma libraries throughout Cleveland, McClain, and Pottawatomie counties. Our donors support programs and community education activities above and beyond what is possible through ad valorem funding.
For many people, their local library serves as the only place they can access books, the Internet, and other valuable resources. We seek to enhance these services by supporting transformational programming accessible to everyone in the community.
Each year, we continue to expand our impact through the support of grants, sponsorships, and contributions from donors like you. Together, we can place books directly into the hands of children, bring families together to learn, help adults gain the literacy skills to secure jobs, and more.
Did you know one out of five Oklahomans struggle to read the newspaper? We believe everyone deserves an equal chance at success and literacy opens the gateway to a brighter future.
Your support helps people overcome obstacles. For instance, each year countless school-age children go unengaged during the summer months – leaving them further behind at the start of the school year. This phenomenon is known as the summer slide:
Funded by community partners and donors like you, Pioneer’s Summer Reading Programs keep children mentally active all summer long. Children of all backgrounds and income levels participate in reading, exciting STEM activities and other hands-on learning experiences – positioning them for better success in school and beyond.
Pioneer Library System Foundation helps administer funding for adult basic literacy programs and English as a Second Language tutoring. Additionally, we recognize that literacy extends beyond reading and supports a number of programs that advance knowledge of the arts, culture, health, and computer skills.
