Families Invited to 3rd Annual Royal Games

Oct 28, 2025 | Press Release

McClain County, OK – October 22, 2025 — The Pioneer Library System Foundation invites families to the 3rd Annual Royal Games, a free event for children and their caregivers, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Veterans Park in Newcastle. The event will transform the park into a storybook-themed space featuring activities encouraging creativity and play.

Children can explore games like archery, axe throwing, and croquet; visit the Pioneer Library System’s Mobile Maker Lab to craft a sword or scepter to take home; decorate pumpkins; and meet royal characters from the Norman Renaissance Festival. Archers from McClain County 4-H, Grady County 4-H, and the National Archery in Schools Program will also present a demonstration. These are just some of the activities planned for young adventurers, who are encouraged to wear royal or medieval attire to join in the fun.

“The Royal Games capture what our libraries do best by sparking curiosity, inspiring creativity, and helping children discover the joy of learning,” said Carlee Jacks, event chair and Pioneer Library System Foundation Board of Directors member.

The event is made possible through the support of OEC Fiber, First United Bank-Purcell, Focus Federal Credit Union, McClain Bank, Mid-State Housing, Sunset Estates Skilled Nursing, and other local businesses.

Proceeds from the Royal Games benefit the Pioneer Library System’s Blanchard, Newcastle, and Purcell Public Libraries, helping enhance programs and services that promote literacy and lifelong learning for people of all ages.
