posing in front of a vibrant, themed backdrop. The Pioneer Library System Foundation announced that its 4th Annual Mad Hatter Tea Party raised a record $12,000 to benefit Pottawatomie County libraries. The event was held on March 28 at Shawnee Public Library.

The after-hours fundraiser transformed the library into Wonderland, complete with food, drinks, entertainment, raffles, a Maddest Hat contest, and engaging experiences for guests.

Proceeds from the event will directly enhance library programs and resources for all ages. Funding will expand early literacy outreach, STEAM programming such as BugFest, and the Summer Learning Challenge—broadening access and deepening the positive impact for children, teens, and adults across the county.

“This evening is a great example of what happens when a community comes together to support its libraries,” said Will Merrick, Pioneer Library System development officer. “Thanks to this generosity, more people will have access to the programs and resources that help them connect, learn, and grow.”

The Foundation extends sincere thanks to event co-chairs Amanda Johnson and Carmen Wolf, as well as the sponsors, donors, and volunteers who made the evening possible. Special recognition goes to lead sponsors Cleo L. Craig Foundation, First United Bank, and Avedis Foundation.

Each year, the Mad Hatter Tea Party generates vital support for the Pioneer Library System’s McLoud, Shawnee, and Tecumseh Public Libraries. The Foundation looks forward to welcoming the community back for the 2027 celebration and continuing its commitment to literacy and a love of learning throughout the area.
