NORMAN, Sept. 14, 2023 – The Pioneer Library System Foundation invites families to sign up for The Royal Games on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 5-7 p.m. at Hillside Manor Wedding Venue in Goldsby.

The event’s theme is a royal garden party featuring games and hands-on learning activities for children of all ages. Rapunzel and Robin Hood, along with other characters from beloved children’s stories, will interact with attendees while they participate in painting, jousting, croquet, archery, and more. The Pioneer Library System’s Mobile Maker Lab will also be on-site for kids to explore and make souvenirs to take home with them.

Tickets are $10 per child and include all activities and refreshments. Participants are encouraged to dress up in royal or medieval attire. Advance registration is required, and tickets are available online at www.plsfdn.org. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and each ticket includes admission for up to two caregivers.

“We are excited to host this family-friendly event where kids can explore their imaginations through play and hands-on fun,” said Carlee Jacks, event co-chair and Foundation board member. Jacks added that the event will culminate with the children gathering for story time with a featured character.

Proceeds from the Royal Games, sponsored by Coldwell Banker Heart of Oklahoma Real Estate, McClain Bank, and other local businesses, will enhance programming and services at the Pioneer Library System’s McClain County branches in Blanchard, Newcastle, and Purcell.

Sally Maynard, event co-chair, and Foundation board member, shared, “The Foundation’s mission is to support literacy and a love of learning throughout the Pioneer Library System’s service area.” A few examples of projects funded by the Foundation in McClain County include the Little Free Library at Lion’s Park in Blanchard, a 3D printer at the Newcastle Public Library, and expanded learning gardens at the Purcell Public Library.
