SHAWNEE, Feb. 11, 2025 – The Pioneer Library System Foundation invites you to step through the looking glass and into a world of whimsy at the third annual Mad Hatter Tea Party fundraiser on Saturday, March 29th. For the first time, this fantastical event will take place inside the Shawnee Public Library, transforming it into a real-life Wonderland for an evening of food, specialty cocktails and mocktails, live entertainment, and the ever-popular “Maddest Hat” contest.

Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s beloved Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, this event is more than just an evening of fun—it’s a celebration of imagination, creativity, and community, all in support of our Pottawatomie County libraries. Guests will enjoy delightful treats and entertainment and can explore the library’s exciting new Maker Lab, a hands-on space designed to spark innovation and learning for all ages.

“We are thrilled to bring this event directly into the library,” said the event chair and foundation board member Amanda Johnson. “It’s the perfect opportunity to showcase how our library is evolving, combining tradition with innovation to create a truly dynamic and welcoming space for all.”

Attendees are encouraged to wear their most extravagant and whimsical hats to compete for the title of Maddest Hat, with a prize awarded for the most creative design. Live music, interactive experiences, and surprises around every corner will make this an unforgettable evening.

The Mad Hatter Tea Party is made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, including First United Bank, Avedis Foundation, Citizen Potawatomi Nation, and Tinker Federal Credit Union.

Proceeds benefit the Pioneer Library System’s McLoud, Shawnee, and Tecumseh branches, helping fund programming and services such as Read Across America, literacy outreach, and STEAM education.
